Lylas Zola

ARTWORKS

Artist, I decided to go by the name of Lylas Zola (Lylas as Lilas flower, its purple color and its sweet fragrance, Zola for my favorite French writer). I was born and grew up in the Grand Duché of Luxembourg. I went to Paris to study fashion and graphic design; two learnings who bring me a lot today in my creations.

As the time passed by, I wasn’t drawing anymore and I became a receptionist. It has been during the Covid19 pandemic that I felt a strong need to take back my main drawing tool; my
nib and my Indian ink. At that moment, I did the promise to myself that I won’t ever stop drawing again!

My creativity is guided by my passion for Art Nouveau/Belle Epoque and the interest for Paris. Womanhood, Flowers and arabesques patterns are the main elements in my compositions
And I’m also inspired by the balconies of Haussmannian buildings from this french town. I work details in each of my portraits allowing to create a connection between the visitor’s eye and the artwork, and being able to immersed in what she/he’s looking at and to get the
freedom to create her/his own story.
